Welcome to the 53rd Persuasion Tip Newsletter!

Dear Michael,From the desk of Kenrick E. ClevelandIn this issue you'll find:

The 3 Rules for Persuading

1. Determine what outcome you want.

For example, someone calls you. What do you want from them? Do you want to set an appointment? Do you want to sell them something? What do you want to do?

You better have an outcome for every single step. If you're doing a lot of telemarketing in Real Estate, your outcome is not to sell them a home. Your first outcome is to get an appointment.

Once you have an appointment then you can move on and have another outcome.

You've got to break it down.

I have a global outcome; I then have secondary outcomes - smaller and smaller and smaller.

My first step is I want an appointment to see you.

That's it. That's all I'm going for.

And once I get there, I have an outcome to get your criteria.

Once I get your criteria, I have an outcome to use it until I get you to buy a house.

I may have additional outcomes as well.

So you may have to adjust your outcome. If your first outcome is I want to get together with you or I want to tell you about what I have right on the phone. Either way that has to be your first outcome.

If you just jump to wanting to sell them something, you're going to miss all the information that they have to give you, all the criteria.

2. Sensory Acuity

Have the sensory acuity to know if you are getting rapport. How many of you have heard a salesperson ( maybe even you? ) keep pitching?

You say to them, "Okay I'd like to do this."

And the guy goes, "Great because you know this is the greatest stereo that there is and in fact here's a couple really cool features. Let me just show you - there's this feature and this feature and this feature.” And you're going, "Great I'll take one."

And he's blabbing on "

And did I tell you that you can do this and that and the other thing..." And pretty soon you're going, "You know maybe I have to think about it," and they've talked themselves right out of the sale.

You need the sensory acuity to see and hear that your persuasion target is in rapport and ready to buy.

3. Flexibility

You have to have the flexibility to change what you're doing if what you're doing isn't working.

That is one of the biggest things that stops people from being successful with persuasion. You want someone to do what you want them to do and they are not doing it.

If you keep doing what you've been doing, you're going to keep getting what you've been getting. You have to find a way to come around into the back door or the side door, from the roof, through the window. You have to find a different way to get in.

These are the 3 rules that govern communication. You have to have a strong outcome, you have to have the sensory acuity to know if you are getting what you want; and you have to be able to change if you are not getting what you want.

With these as your base, we'll help you hone your chops and take your persuasion skills to the next level.

Not for profit NLP Newsletter - September

Welcome to the September 2005 edition of the free Tony Gibbs Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) newsletter. In this newsletter you’ll find

1. What’s the problem?
2. CV Hints and Tips
3. Funding available for new qualification for charity professionals
4. New diversity training tool launched

You are receiving this newsletter either because you are an existing subscriber, or you may be receiving it for the first time as someone you know thought it would be of interest to you. If you change your mind at any time and would like to cancel your subscription, you can unsubscribe by following the steps set out at the end of this newsletter.

Please be assured that your details remain confidential and will not be shared with anyone else.

1. What's the Problem?
What did you do this morning? I'm not talking about the small details or intricacies, but the major actions you took today. If you're like most people, this morning's routine closely matched the mornings of last week, last month, and even last year.

Here's another question: What did you do last night? Again, think about the main actions you took, not the little things. Did you follow the same basic routine as last week? Last month?
Although most people never realise it, routine runs the show from morning until night. People do what they did, and this pattern continues for years and years until time runs out.

Is this true for you? Do you follow the same basic routine day in and day out? If so, don't be embarrassed or upset. It's only natural to fall into a pattern and do the same comfortable things every day.

The only problem is, if you never change your routine, it's impossible to change your life. You'll be stuck with your current situation forever, and while there are many aspects that you enjoy about your life, I know you aren't satisfied with everything. You want more.

Before moving on, I have a question for you. You may want more out of life, but do you know exactly what that means for you? Do you have specific goals? In other words, are you clear about what you want from life and not what you don’t want? Take time to prepare a list of what you are going to achieve and then think about what skills and capabilities you’re going to need to get there

– this may help you identify areas for personal development as well as remind you of your existing skills – in which case, the plan to get where you want to go becomes more about timescales and prioritisation so that you can move from logical step to logical next step on the path to achieving your goals.

Maybe the first step is just to break the routine?

First Things First

The first thing you have to do is recognise the problem. Answering honestly, are you stuck in a routine? Do you do the same things day after day? Do you stick to the same basic pattern each morning, afternoon, and night?

Most people are hit with this truth once a year but soon forget it. Can you guess when it is? New Year. They realise that they are hoping for the same changes they've been talking about for the past ten years.

Nothing ever changes.

But after a few days of falling back into the same old patterns, they forget about the truth and let routine run the show.

Don't wait until the new year. Be honest with yourself right now. Are you trapped by routine? If so, it's time to break free.

How to Solve the Problem

Solving the problem of living by routine takes just three simple steps.
First, I want you to keep a log of how you spend your time for two weeks. All you'll need to do is carry around a small notebook with you and write down how each hour of the day is spent. This step will uncover the routine you've been following for weeks and months.

Second, you need to mix things up a little. From taking a step toward one of your goals to simply doing something you've never done before, create a new pattern in your life to break free of the old.

You can walk to work instead of driving, volunteer in the afternoon instead of watching television, or make that phone call you've been putting off.
The last thing you need to do is make a decision. Do you really want to keep doing the same thing, day after day,for the rest of your life? Do you really want to look back on years of regret?

I didn't think so.

Make the decision right now that you'll stop letting routine run the show.
I know there is more to changing your life than what we've done here today, but it's a start - and that's the most important thing.

Routine spells the end of a happier, more successful life.

2. CV Hints and tips
I’m often asked how to beef up a CV for a job application. Here are few hints and tips for you to consider when you’re job-hunting –

Don’t be modest

Most people find it difficult to write about their own achievements and aspirations in a positive way. ‘Blowing your own trumpet’ is somehow considered not to be the done thing.

To overcome this natural reticence, try writing a reference for a friend to ensure they stand a really good chance of getting the job or post they are applying for. Note the words you use to describe their accomplishments and then try to ensure you include similar language in your own CV. The idea is to accentuate the positive without either bragging or misconstruing the facts.
Maintain a Master CV

A lot of effort goes into a CV so don’t waste any of it. Rather than overwriting one CV with another keep a comprehensive document that contains all the details and all the convincing arguments you’ve devised.

Update continually

Every time you gain a new qualification or get a promotion update your CV. It will be much easier to get the details correct at the time rather than later on.

Customise your CV
Different job applications require different variations on your CV so expect to do some customisation every time you use it. Don’t overwhelm people with irrelevant information. The most important part of each CV is the objective. Having drafted this section you can then decide which sections need to be presented and which can be deleted.

Do your homework

When applying for a job or a position within an organisation, find out as much as you can. Study the job description to discover the essential skills and qualities required. A company's mission statement is likely to be found on its web site. From this you will be able to identify its key values. Bear these in mind before finalising your CV.

Applying for jobs online

Jobs are increasingly being advertised online and as such, many job applications are a matter of filling in web forms.

You may think that this makes your CV redundant, but far from it.
You may be able to copy from your CV and paste directly into the web form but even if you can’t, coping type from your CV means that you’ll include accurate and reproducible information and save you wondering what answers you gave when you are called to an interview.

One approach to job seeking is to post your CV online. In this case it is very important to pay attention to keywords so that your CV is noticed when a search is performed.
To find the correct terms read through the job descriptions of posts you would like to be considered for. Look at the type of experience and the qualities they specify and make sure you use those words in your CV.

How To Turn That "Friend" Into Your Devoted Lover!

Dear Speed Seduction Student,
It's truly amazing the questions I get.
I guess since this newsletter goes around the world and reaches guys from every walk of life, from every kind of culture, In every age range, you'd think guys have different problems wIih women.

But when it comes to women, I've learned, we are pretty much the same.
We all face pretty much the same challenges.
We are all pretty much trying to figure out the same puzzles.
Now, here is a question I have seen many times. I'll let the reader speak in his own voice:

"My name is XXX and I am 18 and from Ireland. I think your material is absolutely fantastic and it has thought me so many little things in which you should never, ever do with women! And for that I thank you most grateful .I don't know where you learned all of this but it really is great.

I have a problem though, and I know you are probably a very busy man who won't reply to this but I am going to write it none the less. I am completely falling for one of my friends. I feel a very strong sexual attraction towards her, perhaps stronger than I have ever felt before. I have never been closer to a girl. We talk for hours, we are very physically close when we are with each other but I think she may be afraid of abandoning friendship.

This is a serious gripe in my side. Is there anything I could do effectively to bring out her true feelings and desires without blatantly asking her? I suppose I want to know how do you tell when a girl gets close to you whether she is a friend or something more."

Ok, Mr. X.

The first thing to realize is, even if this girl is totally attracted to you, there is just about zero chance, especially given her young age, that she is going to make the first physical move.

Sorry, but that just isn't the way it works.

I really wish it weren't the case that we guys almost always have to go first.

But that is how it works.

So if you were hoping for her to make a move, or tell you herself, it's unlikely to happen.
Now, even if she is afraid of "losing the friendship" that doesn't mean you have to let her fears dictate where you or her are going to go.
As I have said before, one of the key aspects of being a leader with women, is to see where they are at, without having to go there for yourself.

That is, you can understand her emotions, without having to take them on for yourself.
Her fear is just that; H-E-R-S.

Stand your ground, and set the lead

Does that make sense?

Now, having set that, there are some things you can do to accelerate this sexually and see just where you really stand.

First of all, let me tell you what I do NOT recommend.
I do NOT recommend suddenly grabbing and kissing her.

Why?

It's too rough a jump.

To go from zero contact to erotic contact(like kissing) is just too abrupt.
So I would recommend you do some testing of her physical boundaries first.

Now, it just so happens, women have 3 "erotic hot spots"
that seem like totally innocent places to touch.

These are:
1. The back of the neck 2. The small of the back 3. The palm(and thumb)

(By the way, if you want to see free video clips of me demonstrating the first two spots on a very hot female subject, just go to:

http://www.seduction.com/resources.asp)

Anyway, here is what you can do:

When you are talking to her, get up to go to the bathroom, but as you do, reach out, and with the palm of your hand, gently rub the back of your neck(as I illustrate on the free video on the website).

Notice her response. If she inhales sharply, moans with pleasure, melts under your touch, then you are on your way!

Another thing you can do is to offer to read her palm.

Don't' ask me how to do palm reading; go to the library and get a book on it.

Anyway, you can mostly make it up. Tell her her palm shows she is lonely. Trace your finger on her palm and tell her that her love line is very strong, that she has strong desires.

Explain also that the palm is a strong energy center, then take your thumb and rub her palm with your thumb.

If you see her get the "doggy dinner bowl" look; the look that says, "kiss me now" then lean in and kiss her! If she pulls back, don't apologize! Just look at her and say, "hmmman it just seemed like you needed it"!

Another thing to do(also illustrated on the website) is to put your palm briefly on the small of her back when you are walking somewhere. Don't keep it there. Just use it to guide her briefly and then take it away. The small of the back is a strong sexual energy center.

The best advice is: learn from this. Don't be too attached to this outcome with this girl. Remember this belief;

I either get what I want, or learn what I need to in order to get what I want or even BETER, next time.

If you see all of this through the filter of THAT belief, you will do way better with this girl than if you HAVE to "win".

Good luck, and let us know how it turns out.
Piece and Peace,
RJ
