Future Leaders - Challenging Urban Schools

Could you lead the future in a challenging urban school? Do you want to be as fulfilled and passionate about your work as when you were a front-line teacher? Do you have Qualified Teacher Status and want to use it again to improve education for every child? Whatever your current position is, if you share the following beliefs then the Future Leaders could be the programme for you:

all children can succeed, regardless of background
the most challenging schools need the best leadership
you have the potential, with the right training and support, to be a senior leader of a challenging school within 18 months and a Head within 4 years

Future Leaders is a unique, schools-led programme to develop senior leaders for challenging urban schools. This year, we are recruiting, supporting and developing up to 20 exceptional existing or former teachers with strong leadership potential to enter into a Deputy Head or Headship position in a London secondary school after a year’s intensive experience-based training.

The right candidates will receive a host of benefits, including:

  • Cutting-edge, free training from top education and business Faculty
  • Trips to exemplary schools in the UK and US to see and share best practice, with travel and accommodation included
  • Outstanding in-school mentorship for two years under two inspirational Headteachers
  • A dedicated ex-Headteacher leadership Coach for two years
  • Your current salary in the first year (up to a cap of £55k) and Senior Leadership Team salary on gaining this post in the second year
  • And most importantly, a chance to fulfil your mission of improving education for all in challenging urban schools.

If you might be interested in this programme, come to an information session in April or May before you consider formally applying for the programme online. If you can’t attend in person, you’ll be able to dial in via a conference call.
