Derren Brown gently knocks NLP

Tricks of the mind - Derren Brown gently knocks NLP
Just finished a first reading of Derren Brown's 'tricks of the mind' book In his new book Darren (actually and genuinely) passes on some of the secrets of his craft.
The contents includes:
Disillusionment
Magic
Memory
Hypnosis and suggestibility
Unconscious communication
Anti-science, pseudo science and bad thinking
Final thoughts
He gently knocks NLP and various complimentary therapies. He calls NLP 'the Frankenstein grandchild of Ericksonian hypnosis' and comes up with a couple of classic quotes:
"Gurus such as Tony Robbins make fortunes from motivational courses that are both amazing and sinister, but which boil down to age old and obvious adage: Just get on with it.
It is about do or don't do. In social life we are defined by our actions; our thoughts or intentions don't mean very much unless they lead to action...An obvious but much missed point..."
AND
"There is a real irony to the NLPers I know who prided themselves on their communication skills yet because of their need to let everyone know how engaging they were, were among the least engaging people I know....
"So why as an NLPer am I strongly recommending it? The reason is that he gives some really, really good insights and NLP is strong enough to take some home truths - and he also gives a lot of examples demonstrating NLP's use and impact.
And NLP is very much about obvious but missed points.
Take care
