The Wild Days, NLP 1972-1981
The Wild Days, NLP 1972-1981
A colleague lent me 'The Wild Days' NLP 1972-1981 by Terrence L. McClendon and I highly recommend this easy and quick to read book to anyone who wants to connect to the 'spirit' of NLP.
Quoting Richard Bandler in the forward "That spirit is basically the belief that anything is possible, and its the human mind that makes it so.....
...Grinder and I never accepted what most people assumed about the limits of human beings anyway. We always felt that humans were capable of much more excellence, creativity and success than most people believed.."
The book is McClendon's personal account of the historical development of Neuro Linguistic Programming, and its two key developers Richard Bandler and John Grinder.
It records the development of the early techniques, modelling of Fritz Pearls, Viginia Satir and Milton Erickson and the unique and different contribution of the two founders.
The book also emphasises that NLP is NOT the techniques it produced. It is much more about attitude and modelling itself.
And the book itself is full of useful metaphors about NLP.
You can still buy second hand versions from Amazon in the UK
